About Georgia Lottery

Since its launch more than 30 years ago in 1993, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has contributed billions of dollars to the state of Georgia, making it one of the most successful lotteries in the nation.

The Georgia Lottery is run by the Georgia Lottery Corporation, a quasi-governmental organization that does not have an executive director or president. Instead, the 14-member board of directors is led by Chairman Kenneth R. Wiggins Jr. and Vice Chairman Michael Ederton. Together, they are responsible for handling lottery operations.

The Georgia Lottery Corporation sells lottery tickets and instant scratch-off tickets in more than 12,000 retailers all over the state and is a member of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL). NASPL members uphold their own integrity and trustworthiness commitment when it comes to responsible gaming.

The money from lottery ticket sales is used to fund education across the state of Georgia. The Georgia Lottery Corp. has put more than $21 billion into Georgia’s education programs since its launch in 1993, including college scholarships and grants, pre-kindergarten programs, and the HOPE program.

In the 2020 fiscal year alone, the Georgia Lottery Corporation provided more than $1.2 billion in contributions to Georgia’s education programs. Of this sum, $551.9 million went to the HOPE scholarship and grant program, which provides assistance to college students, and $206.9 million to the Pre-K program, which helps prepare four-year-olds for their kindergarten year.

The Georgia Lottery also sponsors several events and campaigns, such as the “All for Education” Chalkboard Challenge, the “Are You Cool Enough” quiz, and the “Don’t-Kick-the-Habit” anti-tobacco campaign.

In addition to its contribution to the state's quality of life, the Georgia lottery has seen other changes in the last few years. For example, in 2020 it became the first lottery in the country to launch an online subscription service that allows customers to play the same numbers for up to 12 weeks in a row. It was the first lottery to introduce a second-chance anomaly prize. That same year, the Georgia Lottery introduced “Game On!,” which is a game using mobile technology that offers prizes to those playing with their lottery tickets.

In 2021, the Georgia Lottery Corporation launched an e-ticketing service that allows players to buy tickets and store them in their phones. This is the first lottery ticketing system of its kind.

The Georgia Lottery also works to promote responsible gaming. It hosts various gaming initiatives, such as Play Responsibly, which offers resources on responsible gaming, warnings about the dangers of excessive gambling, and offers other tips to help participants stay within their budget.

The Georgia Lottery Corporation is committed to providing entertainment and giving back to its citizens. The billions of dollars earned and donated to the state of Georgia over the past 30 years have made a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families across the state. The corporation looks forward to what the future holds for itself and Georgia’s citizens.

The Georgia Lottery has taken measures to stay up-to-date with the latest technology and marketing trends. In 2020, the lottery began its first ever mobile app and online rewards store. Players can now purchase digital and physical ticket games using their smartphone or online profile, store winnings in an online wallet and redeem prizes on a portable mobile site or through the Georgia Lottery Rewards Store. Players have access to second-chance games, discounts, and bonus opportunities.

The Georgia Lottery also runs a weekly “Lucky Tuesday” drawing where players can win cash prizes. This drawing is held every Tuesday and players can also use their app to purchase tickets and get notification when they win.

The Georgia Lottery also offers fun promotional contests and events. Players can be randomly selected to participate in a “Lucky Day” drawing for the chance to win up to $10,000 in cash prizes. Others can have a chance to participate in a “PlayFrenzy” event and win special prizes.

The Georgia Lottery is also an active contributor to the community. They offer scholarships to Georgia high school and college students, health and wellness grants, and community programs that give back to local groups and organizations in need. They offer support to everyone from low-income families to veterans, and even help individuals with diseases like cancer.

The Georgia Lottery is committed to providing entertainment and giving back to its citizens. The billions of dollars earned and donated to the state of Georgia over the past 30 years have made a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families across the state. The corporation looks forward to what the future holds for itself and Georgia’s citizens.
